AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Penn State University Libraries Library Learning Services Department is accepting applications for an Open Educational Practices Assistant.

The successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity to be a part of transforming education at Penn State. The assistant will collaborate with the Library Learning Services Department and a Penn State faculty member in a variety of disciplines on a program in which they will facilitate the development of open educational resources (OER) that better reflect our student diversity and include marginalized voices and experiences historically absent within disciplinary discourses, special collections materials, and commercially produced textbooks/manuscripts. The successful applicants may assist faculty with course materials creation, such as developing/adapting/revising course content and presenting that content in an appropriate open publishing tool.


Duties include:

  • Explore and gain expertise in open educational practices in order to expand agency in their own education.
  • Develop research, transcription, writing, editing, technological, and/or other discipline- and project-specific skills related to creating and publishing accessible, inclusive educational content.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
