Job Description

About RSPCA Queensland

For nearly 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals - whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.

Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.

About the Role

Join RSPCA Queensland as a part-time Op Shop Support team member, where you’ll play a behind-the-scenes role that keeps our Op Shops running smoothly.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced position focused on making sure our stores have the right stock, in the right place, at the right time. You’ll be coordinating stock movement, preparing items for delivery, and supporting the logistics and retail teams with the day-to-day flow of goods.

It’s a role that blends organisation, physical work, teamwork and directly contributes to better store performance, improved customer experience, and ultimately, better outcomes for animals.

What We’re Looking For

You’re someone who enjoys being busy, staying organised, and getting things done. You take pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes and are happy jumping between physical tasks and admin work. You’re reliable, proactive, and a strong communicator who can work both independently and as part of a team. Most importantly, you bring a positive, solutions-focused mindset and genuinely care about contributing to a purpose-driven organisation.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Process and fulfil stock requests from Op Shops accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare, pack, and organise stock for delivery or collection.
  • Coordinate stock movement between stores, storage areas and distribution points.
  • Support stock allocation based on store needs, trends and available inventory.
  • Communicate with store teams around stock availability, delays or substitutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock movement, transfers and dispatches.
  • Update systems and spreadsheets to track stock levels and activity.
  • Assist with reporting, including weekly or monthly stock summaries.
  • Help maintain organised, accessible and safe storage areas.
  • Support donation processing, including sorting and categorising items.
  • Work closely with store teams, managers and volunteers to meet operational needs.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe and positive working environment.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, reliable approach with good attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and a customer service mindset.
  • Confidence working both independently and within a team.
  • Comfort with physical work, including lifting and moving stock (within safe limits).
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, data entry).
  • Experience in retail, warehousing, logistics or administration (nice to have, not essential).
  • Willingness to learn systems and processes.
  • Commitment to safe manual handling practices.
  • Alignment with RSPCA Queensland’s purpose and values.

Why Join Us?

  • Comprehensive Support: Enjoy 8 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible working arrangements, study leave, and even leave for your furry companions. We also provide access to counselling and mental health services.
  • Employee Perks: From free on-site parking to exclusive discounts, novated leases, and 50% off Royal Canin pet food, we’ve got you covered! You can also adopt a new furry friend with free adoption options.
  • Professional Growth: Access expansive learning and development programs to help you elevate your career and skill set.
  • Purpose-Driven Impact: Be part of a mission-driven organisation where every task makes a tangible difference to animal welfare.

At RSPCA Qld, we encourage you to grow your skills, expand your responsibilities, and explore different career pathways. By enhancing your qualifications and capabilities, you can take advantage of internal opportunities across our many departments - from animal care to operations, outreach, and more.
