The world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service is looking for a Ontologistto join the band in a consultant assignment. The client has transformed music listening forever when launched in 2008.
Period: ASAP to 2026-11-17 (full-time), with a possibility of extension.
We’re hiring a contract Ontologist to design ontologies that help build out new AI domains within our client. This role focuses on developing semantic models and knowledge structures, helping to make our client's internal knowledge usable by AI systems.
Operating within a small central team, you’ll work with many partners in engineering, product, and data science across organizational boundaries.
Design ontologies from scratch that represent core business concepts and relationships across contexts, constraints, and inference patterns, as well as approaches to reasoning
Structure knowledge for GraphRAG and search from unstructured artifacts (documents, transcripts, reports, glossaries, etc.), as well as for assembling agent context
Work with engineers to determine how the ontology will be queried, connected, and reasoned over
Produce design review artifacts and model documentation
Validate and test against use cases, queries, and workflows
Establish maintenance processes and build a governance layer
Who you are
Background in ontology / knowledge representation
Experience modeling with semantic standards (RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL) and calibrating expressivity
Experience using ontology management platforms
Understanding of how ontologies feed into AI systems and how agents retrieve and use structured context
Ability to use AI to scale your own output and efficiency
Multilingual experience is a plus
Degree in information science or a related field
