The Audio & Video / Video Collaboration team owns the enterprise video collaboration and meeting room experience used by thousands of our colleagues every day. This team is spread between Amsterdam and Manchester, and they are responsible for a broad collaboration landscape that includes video-conferencing platforms, AV hardware, meeting room experience, auditoriums, boardrooms, digital signage, AV monitoring, asset management, and related collaboration capabilities.

Role Description:

As the Onsite AV Operations Engineer of Booking.com Amsterdam headquarters, you will help operate and continuously improve Booking.com’s audio-visual and video collaboration experience from our Amsterdam campus - the largest office of Booking Holdings. You will provide hands-on support for meeting rooms, video-conferencing systems, digital signage, auditoriums, boardrooms, and high-visibility events.

This is an onsite, client-facing engineering role. You will troubleshoot issues methodically, support live events, install and commission AV equipment, and work with colleagues and vendors to restore service when something goes wrong. You will also turn recurring incidents into lasting improvements through better documentation, monitoring, automation, standards, and operational practices.

You will work closely with the rest of the Video Collaboration engineers and partner with IT Support, Corporate Network, Security, IT Infrastructure, Real Estate / Workspace Services, Global Comms, Events, Executive Business Partners, and external vendors.

You are expected to work independently on familiar operational tasks after onboarding, while collaborating with more experienced engineers on complex changes, unfamiliar systems, and broader improvements.

The role is based at the Booking.com Amsterdam Campus, with a global stakeholder scope, and reports to the Engineering Manager - Video Collaboration.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Support and maintain meeting rooms, auditoriums, boardrooms, digital signage, video-conferencing endpoints, and related AV systems.
• Troubleshoot audio, video, room-control, endpoint, network, and cloud-service issues using a structured, evidence-based approach.
• Support Cisco room systems and the video-conferencing platforms used by Booking.com, learning new platforms and devices as the environment evolves.
• Prepare and provide onsite support for important meetings and live events, including high-profile stakeholder meetings and board-week activities.
• Install, configure, test, commission, and document AV equipment and room systems in line with operational and installation standards.
• Read AV systems diagrams.
• Coordinate with IT Support, Network, Security, Infrastructure, REWS, Events, and vendors when an issue crosses team boundaries.
• Capture useful incident information, including impact, timestamps, room and endpoint identity, symptoms, recent changes, evidence collected, mitigations, and next steps.
• Contribute to incident response, root-cause analysis, post-incident follow-up, and the improvement of runbooks and support procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation, asset information, room records, escalation notes, and operational knowledge.
• Help improve monitoring and alerting by identifying useful health signals, thresholds, and service-impact indicators.
• Reduce operational toil through small automations, process improvements, reusable troubleshooting approaches, and safe AI-assisted investigation where appropriate.
• Follow Booking.com security, privacy, safety, change-management, and operational standards, and raise gaps when a standard does not fit the situation.
• Communicate clearly and calmly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, especially during incidents and live events.

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for someone who is developing strong engineering and operational capability and can contribute credibly in a hands-on AV environment. In particular, we are looking for:

• Experience supporting audio-visual, video-conferencing, meeting-room, event, workplace-technology, or comparable enterprise-support environments.
• Hands-on familiarity with some combination of cameras, microphones, displays, touch controllers, speakers, amplifiers, DSPs, room-control systems, digital signage, or related AV equipment.
• Experience supporting one or more video-conferencing platforms or room systems. Cisco, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or comparable experience is relevant.
• An understanding of how endpoints, room equipment, control systems, networks, and cloud services work together.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, QoS, and video-over-IP. Awareness of signalling and media paths such as SIP and RTP is useful.
• The ability to read a basic AV schematic, trace an audio or video signal path, and identify likely fault domains.
• Experience with, or the ability to learn, AV installation, commissioning, testing, preventive maintenance, and operational documentation.
• A structured approach to troubleshooting: you gather evidence, narrow the fault domain, choose safe and reversible checks, validate the result, and escalate with a complete handover when needed.
• The ability to remain calm, practical, and respectful when supporting a high-pressure meeting, live event, senior stakeholder, or unfamiliar technical problem.
• A proactive, get-things-done mindset. You do not wait for perfect information or someone else to take the lead; you act safely, communicate what you know, validate the outcome, and improve the system afterwards.
• The ability to recognise the limits of your knowledge, ask for help early, learn from documentation and colleagues, and verify information before making changes.
• Experience creating clear documentation, runbooks, incident updates, or technical handovers.
• Awareness of monitoring, observability, incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement practices.
• Interest in automation and practical AI-assisted troubleshooting, with good judgement around privacy, security, access, verification, rollback, and human accountability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your language to engineers, vendors, office teams, and end users.
• Basic job knowledge in a relevant technical domain, typically gained through approximately one to three years of relevant experience, or equivalent practical experience.
