Key Responsibilities

The Onsen Receptionist leads the delivery of a high‑quality, memorable Onsen experience aligned with Princess brand standards. The role focuses on exceptional guest service, operational excellence, and revenue maximization, while fostering a positive, professional, and guest‑focused environment.
As our Onsen Receptionist, you will be the first smiling face guests encounter when visiting the Onsen. You’ll ensure a seamless and relaxing experience by:

  • Delivering a warm, professional welcome to every guest.
  • Managing all Onsen bookings, appointments, and checkout procedures.
  • Engaging in genuine conversations, listening with empathy, and anticipating guest needs.
  • Ensuring the Onsen environment is maintained to the highest cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Overseeing day‑to‑day operations of the Izumi Onsen areas.
  • Monitoring voyage performance and adjusting to meet revenue goals.
  • Managing marketing, promotional activities, and brand‑aligned messaging.
  • Supporting inventory control, audit follow-up, and financial accuracy.
  • Supervising Onsen Attendants and fostering a respectful, inclusive, and harassment‑free workplace.
  • Leading by example and instilling our Corporate Culture Essentials.
  • Driving continuous improvement and supporting change initiatives.
  • Collaborating closely with onboard and shoreside teams to share insights and best practices.
  • Upholding all Hotel, Environmental, and HESS-MS procedures.
  • Completing HESS logs and supporting outbreak response requirements.
  • Maintaining knowledge of public health standards (USPH, WHO, etc.).

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience: Strong guest service background in spa, wellness, or premium hospitality settings.
  • Language Skills: Basic English proficiency required; Japanese language skills are highly desirable due to the guest demographic.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for guest service and cultural sensitivity.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team and adapt to dynamic operational needs. Ability to lead small teams with positivity and professionalism.
  • Professionalism: High standards of personal grooming, punctuality, and conduct.High attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, in accordance with shipboard schedules.
  • Compliance: Strong sales mindset and ability to support revenue achievement. Understanding of safety, sanitation, and public health compliance (preferred). Experience with POS systems, reservations, or spa management software
  • Cultural Sensitivity: The Onsen is a traditional Japanese bathing experience that may involve nudity in gender-separated areas. Candidates must be comfortable working in this environment and demonstrate discretion and professionalism at all times.
