Compensation: £34,666 - £39,851 / year

Due to expansion of our services, we are currently seeking a passionate, dedicated SEN Teacher to deliver online lessons to pupils living within our children's residential homes. The role will be based at our Head Office in Belper (Derbyshire).

Our friendly and successful provision supports a number of vulnerable young people aged 7 to 18 years, with special education needs.

This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced, qualified teacher who is looking for a new opportunity!

About the role:

We are looking for outstanding, committed and motivated individuals to contribute to the development of teaching and learning and curriculum.

Pupils seeking online support may be unable to access on engage in a mainstream/onsite provision.

We aim to provide a range of education routes and qualifications, including Entry Level Certificates, Functional Skills, vocational studies, GCSE and A Levels.

A flexible approach with a can-do ethos is essential, as is drive, enthusiasm and sense of humour.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be adaptable, innovative and child focused
  • Be able to engage with their pupils and devise the best routes for them
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Have experience in supporting young people who have special educational needs - essential
  • Have proven experience in working with young people that challenge - essential
  • Have experience in delivering online/virtual lessons - desirable

Requirements for a SEN Teacher:

  • The ability to deliver lessons in core subjects (such as math and English)
  • Sound curriculum knowledge
  • A committed, conscientious and passionate approach
  • Dedication to support inclusion
  • The ability to plan, evaluate and monitor learning and progress
  • The ability to differentiate all aspects of learning to promote inclusion and attainment
  • The ability to build good relationships with young people and staff members
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and use time effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive attitude to hard work and challenging situations

About Esland

At Esland, we offer care, education, and therapeutic support to 6 to 18 year olds from diverse backgrounds who have encountered a range of adverse childhood experiences.

These experiences include complex trauma and foster placement breakdowns, as well as difficulties engaging in their education setting.

The young people we support often have mental and developmental diagnoses which impact their daily functioning.

To help a young person manage these challenges we make every interaction with them therapeutic in nature.

With our support they learn how to build positive and trusting relationships, regulate their emotions and try new and positive experiences to support their transition into adulthood.
