Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the job is to achieve maximum sales growth and profitability in the online channel. This is done by:

  • Contributing actively to attract and convert more consumers to customers and encourage existing customers to shop more frequently by using and developing home furnishing competence, commercial and communication skills and knowledge of the IKEA Concept.
  • Reporting on Online commerce and customer journey elements, metrics, data and to develop actionable insights on a market level.
  • Maintaining a strong retail foundation online and align to sales leaders, commercial activities and counterparts in other Ikano Retail markets to share best practice, commercial opportunities and operational excellence. To develop the skills, capabilities, competence and confidence of the Online team in your market.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

  • Actively lead the commerciality of the IKEA website, review sales performances and react accordingly in their Market.
  • Use the website to understand all the various aspects that affect the customer's online journey. Ensure that website visitors can search, find, choose and buy in an optimal way.
  • Continually sales steering on the IKEA website in the most optimal way through their team & across their HFBs, take care of strategic products including 4 Aces and 1 King, and price and volume products so that they are strongly promoted across the website.
  • Ensure that the commercial calendar and all agreed promotional activities are properly supported from an E-Commerce perspective by establishing and improving collaborative ways of working within and across functions.
  • Optimise presentation and the sorting and filtering of online products to maximise all sales opportunities by being the product range specialist for their HFBs and challenge/support their team in the same process.
  • Present the product range online in a commercial way to encourage customers to buy more by making it easier for them to find the right products and solutions.
  • Seek and identify business opportunities that will grow sales and improve gross profit by collaborating with Sales Leaders on particular HFBs, analysing market trends and benchmarking with other E-Commerce operations.
  • Take ownership, know and work actively with the online product range, monitor performance and continually develop range frame options to ensure sales and profit opportunities are maximised. Report this performance with improvement suggestions to the Country Selling Manager.
  • Secure that the agreed product range is visible and buyable on the IKEA website within the agreed lead-time and cost frames for all HFBs in the market. Steer the administration of product change dates in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Know the IKEA priorities, the IKEA product range, the national market / competition and understand and monitor national market demographics, the economy, competitors, different consumer’s life at home and shopping behaviours. Reporting and sharing this information across the market.
  • Seek feedback from the online customers to learn from their online browsing and shopping experience & share these insights for collaboration on future improvements.
  • Give feedback to the team, service office and global matrix on how to improve the online shopping experience by driving changes within the market.
  • Coordinate the creation and delivery of all weekly, monthly and bi-monthly reporting, specifically providing insight and analysis across E-Commerce metrics package.
  • Line manage & develop a team of 1 web merchandiser and 2 web editors in your market.

  • Steering knowledge of online marketing tools and an ability to follow up and analyse online sales (source codes, campaign codes, basket analysis, AOV, etc.) and their reporting formats.
  • Sound knowledge of IKEA business plans and strategies, collaborate to develop & contribute to these. • IKEA retailing methods, concept and IKEA.com experience.
  • Computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong knowledge of the competitor landscape, information and market trends.
  • Ability to analyse business & web performance, financial awareness and think of terms of profit, loss and added value.
  • Insight & knowledge of the IKEA product range and sales steering methods (4 Aces and 1 King, etc.).
  • Good English, spoken and written.

Capabilities

  • Commercially driven and capable of presenting web sales and service performance data with commercial expertise to Country Management Level.
  • Able to convert sales and marketing ideas into action plans for the market and align with commercial team partners of these plans.
  • Steer & develop a team of web merchandisers & editors in high level commercial execution of online solutions.
  • Drive collaboration forums with functional partners with a view to providing customers with a seamless view of commercial calendar and everyday commerce events.
  • Develop and drive commercial opportunities for the online sales channel.
  • Provide input/feedback to the market business plan for your online channel in the market. • Excellent written & verbal collaboration, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Capable of processing and prioritising information from different streams and structuring this input into actionable tasks, accurately and aligned across the functions.
  • Highly customer centric thinking and ability to map and develop the customer shopping experience online from the customer perspective. • Capable of conducting and presenting analysis on a detailed level & suggestion commercial development actions.
