Florida Atlantic University Libraries are focused on working collaboratively with this distinguished campus community on research initiatives and prioritizing student engagement and success. Florida Atlantic Libraries house approximately 3.7 million items and provide access to over 80,000 electronic journals, nearly 500 databases, and a growing collection of e-books and streaming videos. The Libraries house many distinctive collections, including artists’ books, sound recordings, print music, rare books and manuscripts, and University Archives. The Digital Initiatives and Scholarship Unit provides the Research Hub learning space for graduate students, post-docs, doctoral students, researchers, visiting scholars, and community users. In addition, Digital Initiatives and Scholarship creates online collections from unique materials held in Special Collections and University Archives, serving as the University's repository for intellectual output generated on campus including Florida Atlantic University created journals and curated displays.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Access, Research, and Learning Services, the Online Learning and Emerging Technologies Librarian supports the design, delivery, and assessment of library services for online and hybrid learners, ensuring equitable access to research support, instruction, and digital learning resources. This position collaborates with faculty, instructional designers, academic support units, and library colleagues to integrate information literacy and research skills into online courses and learning environments. The successful candidate plays a key role in advancing student success, engagement, and retention by developing innovative, user-centered instructional materials and virtual services that support learners across disciplines and academic levels.

Minimum Qualifications:
• ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing library instruction and research support in online or academic environments.
• Knowledge of instructional design principles, online pedagogy, and learning technologies.
• Experience creating digital learning objects, tutorials, videos, or multimedia instructional content.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
• Demonstrates ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member and team leader where consultation, flexibility, creativity, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
• Demonstrates strong organization skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates initiative and strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and exceptional work ethic.
• Ability to collect and analyze data to support decision-making, and adapt to change in an ever-evolving and rapidly growing institution.
Preferred
• Second Master’s degree or doctorate or in process.
• 5 years experience and Master’s or certificate in Educational Technology.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards, ADA compliance, and Universal Design for Learning principles.
• Experience with assessment and learning analytics.
• Experience using educational technologies, video editing software, or authoring tools.
• Knowledge of computational literacy, or technology-focused learning initiatives, including familiarity with introductory programming concepts, digital tools, or emerging technologies used in academic learning environments.
• Knowledge of scholarly communication and OER issues and trends.
• Experience collaborating with faculty and other campus stakeholders.
• Demonstrates strong collaborative skills to work alongside faculty, students, and external researchers.
• Experience with higher education outreach and engagement.
• Demonstrates sustained record of scholarship, research, and/or creative endeavors.
• Demonstrates sustained record of student engagement experience.
• Demonstrates sustained record of service on committees, including professional committees, and coordinating projects.
• Knowledge of institutional repositories such as Digital Commons.
• Experience working with an integrated library system (ILS) and discovery tool (e.g., Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE).
• Experience using a Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas).
• Experience in a consortial or multi-campus academic environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of online learning pedagogy, instructional design principles, and best practices for teaching and learning in higher education environments.
• Ability to create engaging online instructional materials, tutorials, videos, research guides, and digital learning objects.
• Knowledge of learning management systems such as Canvas and other instructional technologies used in online and hybrid education.
• Ability to adapt to evolving technologies, changing educational environments, and emerging trends in higher education and academic librarianship.
