Grow Your Oncology Skills in a Meaningful Veterinary Technician Role

What You’ll Do
- Assisting our Oncologist and other team members
- Providing support to other departments as needed
- Restraining animals safely using stress-free handling techniques
- Working collaboratively and positively with all coworkers
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients and medical care to outpatients
- Successfully use all in-house laboratory equipment to provide accurate results
- Be able to calculate drug dosages and reconstitute injectable drugs
- Giving medications via all prescribed routes: PO, SC, IM, IV
- Proficiency with venous catheterization
- Must be comfortable working with chemotherapy drugs, including preparation and administration
- Ability to follow safety protocols, use appropriate PPE, use closed-system transfer devices, and work in a Class II BSC
- Effectively care for and communicate with clients
- Flexibility and the ability to adjust to a changing environment.
- Handle stress and pressure calmly, with poise and tact.
- Self-motivated, hard worker.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate appropriately.
- Willingness and ability to learn new tasks quickly.
- Ability to receive constructive criticism and accept responsibility for actions.
- Reliable and dependable.
- Common sense, good judgment, and a sense of humor.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Veterinary technician experience is required.
- Credentialed technician (RVT, LVT) , or equivalent experience working as an oncology specialty veterinary technician.
- Basic math and computer skills, customer service, and communication skills are a must.
- A special interest in Oncology is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, and stand for an extended period of time.
- Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
Schedule
- Overtime may be required.
