Job Description

Veterinary Nurse - Specialist Oncology I Permanent Full-Time Role

Do you dream of a purely hands-on nursing role, providing high quality patient care?

Do you yearn for a different challenge than what a veterinary GP can provide?

Do you want to expand your skillset and clinical knowledge?

If yes, then join the team at Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane and never quote the price of a vaccination again! We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated Veterinary Nurses to join our ever-expanding team at Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane.

About Us:

Our ARH Brisbane family is part of a well-established group of specialist and emergency veterinary hospitals. Our purpose-designed, state of the art hospital houses our specialty services, including small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, surgical and medical oncology, advanced imaging, and a 24/7 emergency and critical care service. We uphold high clinical and professional standards, which are driven by genuine care and compassion.

Work-life balance is incredibly important to us – our full-time specialty nurses have an RDO fortnightly, with generally NO WEEKEND WORK! We have animal and hospital attendants to maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, and a dedicated reception team to handle all things front-of-house, which means our nursing team are able to focus their energy solely on their patients. Let’s face it, you didn’t become a veterinary nurse to endlessly clean or answer phones!

Our specialty nursing superstars have excellent communication, multi-tasking, and time management skills. They have a passion for delivering outstanding patient care and enjoy the incredibly diverse range of cases that present to our hospital. They thrive in a fast-paced, team environment and enjoy the humorous camaraderie this brings. Just like you, many of our nursing team members have come from general practice veterinary backgrounds and have now opened their hearts to specialty veterinary care.

About You:

You share the same values as our existing specialty nursing superstars – delivering outstanding patient care. You are organised, adaptable, enthusiastic, and an excellent communicator. You are skilled at multi-tasking, and comfortable working in a fast-paced role. You love working in an upbeat team environment, enjoy some light-hearted banter, and create good friendships!

The successful Candidate will possess:

  • Certificate IV in veterinary nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years nursing experience in a busy general practice or experience in referral (specialist hospital) or emergency nursing
  • A strong work ethic, the ability to work efficiently and multi-task, and to work independently and as part of a team
  • The desire and ability to deliver consistently high quality of patient care even in busy conditions
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Attributes:

  • Diploma of Veterinary Nursing or equivalent further training
  • Sound knowledge and experience in anaesthetic monitoring, oncology nursing and patient care
  • Experience in an emergency and/or specialist hospital
  • Knowledge of RX works, Smartflow and Idexx blood machines

Benefits:

  • Work in a supportive, friendly oncology team guided by our oncology specialists and clinicians with on-the-job training and support from senior nurses
  • Encouragement and support for continuing education and professional development
  • Opportunity to perform nursing at the highest level
  • Above award remuneration
  • Yearly continued education allowance and access to a variety of employee perks
  • Discounts to Petbarn, Royal Canin & Hills Products for your pet
  • An employer who is focused on well-being and providing staff access to our EAP program

Join our ARH Brisbane family and be a part of a team where your skills and dedication are valued and rewarded. Applications must include your curriculum vitae and cover letter.
