Partners In Health (PIH) is a non-profit, global health organization that fights social injustice by bringing the benefits of modern medical science first and foremost to the most vulnerable communities around the world. PIH focuses on those who would not otherwise have access to quality health care. PIH runs programs in 11 countries (Haiti, Kazakhstan, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mexico, Navajo Nation, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and the United States of America), where it provides direct care to millions of patients, through public facilities and community engagement.

In Rwanda, PIH operates in three rural districts Kayonza and Kirehe in the Eastern Province, and Burera in the Northern Province, where we support delivery of comprehensive integrated health care services which include cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The Oncology Research Manager in this position will support all oncology research related projects that will be assigned to him/her.

SPECIFICRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan,coordinateandexecuteresearchprojectswithin the oncology program.
  • Developresearchprotocols, study procedures and data collectiontools togetherwiththeprojects’PIsandthe PIHteam.
  • Ensurethatresearchmilestonesareattained asplanned
  • Monitorandcontrolexpenseswithinallottedbudget.
  • Ensuretimelydatacollectionandanalysis
  • Supervisethe oncology research coordinators and datacollectorstoensurecollectionofhighqualitydata
  • Collaboratewithoncologyclinicians and programmatic teamto clarifyuncleardata
  • Respondtodataqualitycontrolanddatacleaningqueries
  • Maintaindatasecurityperstudyprotocols
  • Prepareandsubmitresearchprogressorcompletionreports
  • Presentfindingstomanagementandotherdisseminationplatforms

RequiredQualificationsfortheposition

  • Advanced degree in Public health, nursing, medicine, global health statistics, or related field. PhD preferred
  • At least 5 years of full-timeworkingexperienceinarelated field, preferably with direct research involvement
  • Provenskillsin bothquantitativeandqualitativeresearch methodologies, as well as mixed-methods studies.
  • Strong scientific writing and publication record. Applicants must submit a sample of scientific writing with their application, preferably a publication on which they were the first author.
  • Abilitytolead aresearch projectfrom conceptionto finish
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills
  • Strong track record of team management.
  • Experience working with clinicians especially in cancer care and ability to learn basic information and terminology regarding cancer care
  • Strongorganization, communicationandwriting skills
  • Fluency inEnglishandKinyarwanda
  • Skills in using data analysis software like STATA, MAXQDAor of anyother qualitative and quantitative analysissoftware and using RedCap.
  • Experience in administering surveys and qualitative data collection methods
  • Experience collaborating in international organisations is a plus
  • Flexibility andwillingnesstotravelto,live andworkinruralareas.
  • Beateam playerandhaveabilitytoworkindependently withavery minimal supervision.
