Position Summary
Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking an experienced Oncology / Infusion Registered Nurse to join our oncology care team.
The Oncology RN provides specialized nursing care for patients receiving oncology and infusion therapies, including chemotherapy and biotherapy. This role involves administering complex IV medications, monitoring patient response to treatment, educating patients and families, and collaborating with oncology providers to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusion therapies safely and accurately
- Perform IV therapy, port access, therapeutic phlebotomy, and other infusion-related procedures
- Monitor patients during treatments and respond to adverse reactions or complications
- Provide comprehensive patient education regarding treatment plans, medications, and symptom management
- Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
- Collaborate with oncology providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Ensure compliance with chemotherapy safety standards and infusion protocols
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program
- BSN preferred
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of hospital or acute care nursing experience required
- Oncology or infusion nursing experience preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Colorado RN license in good standing
- Current AHA BLS certification
- ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)
- OCN – Oncology Certified Nurse certification required
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification required
Skills
- Expertise in chemotherapy administration and infusion therapy
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of oncology treatment modalities
- Ability to respond effectively to infusion reactions and emergent situations
- Excellent communication and patient education skills

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation Range: $33.25 - $51.40 hourly, based on years of relevant experience ranging from 0 to 22 years of experience.
- Starting Work Bonus: This position is eligible for a starting work bonus of up to $5,000. Eligibility, amount, and payment terms are subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s compensation policies and may vary based on position, experience, and employment status. Bonus payments, if applicable, are typically issued after the employee has met required employment and service criteria.
- Moving Expense Reimbursement: This position is eligible for a moving expense reimbursement of up to $3,000. Reimbursement is subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center’s relocation policy and requires prior approval. Eligible expenses and reimbursement amounts may vary based on position and individual circumstances. Reimbursement is processed in accordance with established policy and applicable tax regulations.
