Reports To: Oncology Billing Manager / Revenue Cycle Manager
Location: Urology Clinics of North Texas
Position Summary:
The Oncology Accounts Specialist is responsible for managing and resolving insurance and patient receivables for the Oncology service line. This role requires strong knowledge of oncology billing, office-administered medications, infusion cycles, and chemotherapy regimen cycles. The specialist will ensure timely follow-up on claims, accurate posting of adjustments, and effective patient communication regarding financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize daily tasks and utilize tasking tools to manage workflow.
- Follow up on all oncology claims from billing through final resolution.
- Identify and correct billing errors; resubmit claims to insurance carriers as needed.
- Review insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and initiate appeals when necessary.
- Respond to payer requests for additional documentation or information.
- Post account adjustments based on written communication from third parties (e.g., contractual adjustments).
- Communicate with patients regarding account balances, collect payments, and establish payment plans.
- Monitor weekly patient schedules, coordinate with front desk on payment arrangements.
- Update patient records with correct billing information and manage returned mail.
- Handle inbound calls from insurance carriers and patients regarding billing inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical or business education preferred.
- Previous experience in Urology/Oncology, including office-administered medications and infusion services.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, claims, and billing processes.
- Experience with medical collections and oncology coding is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail.
