We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Background Coordinator to support employment screening, compliance tracking, and onboarding coordination across our Senior Services Division.
This is a 4-month assignment-based position created to support hiring and onboarding during a high-volume period.
The Background Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring pre-employment background screening and onboarding compliance activities. This role partners closely with Talent Acquisition, hiring managers, HR Business Partners, and external vendors to ensure screenings and documentation are completed accurately and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Assignment Details
· Compensation: $24–$29/hour
· Assignment Length: 4 Months
· Position Type: Assignment-Based / Temporary
· Schedule: Full-Time
· Potential for Extension: Based on organizational needs
Key Responsibilities
Background & Compliance Coordination
· Coordinate and monitor pre-employment screenings including:
o CORI checks
o National background checks
o OIG exclusions
o Sex offender registry checks
o Driving record (MVR) checks
o License and certification verification
o State-specific compliance requirements
· Track pending screenings and follow up to ensure timely completion
· Escalate delays, discrepancies, or compliance concerns appropriately
Onboarding Support
· Support onboarding documentation and pre-employment workflows
· Ensure records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready
· Assist with I-9 coordination and onboarding documentation
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Reporting & Administrative Support
· Maintain accurate records within HRIS/ATS systems
· Generate status updates and screening reports
· Assist with process improvements and workflow tracking
Candidate Experience
· Communicate professionally with candidates throughout the onboarding process
· Support candidates with onboarding questions and required documentation
· Help create a positive, welcoming experience aligned with Ascentria’s mission and values
Qualifications
· High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
· 1–3 years of experience in HR, onboarding, recruiting coordination, compliance, healthcare administration, or related field preferred
· Experience with background screening or onboarding processes strongly preferred
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Preferred Experience
· Experience supporting healthcare, nonprofit, or multi-state organizations
· Familiarity with Sterling,, DISA, or similar screening platforms
· Knowledge of healthcare or human services compliance requirements
