The Benefits & Onboarding Specialist provides support for employee onboarding, benefits administration, and HRIS data management. This role ensures a seamless employee experience through accurate recordkeeping, effective communication, and coordination across HR functions. The position contributes directly to Goodwill’s 2030 Strategic Plan by strengthening employee engagement, compliance, and total rewards delivery.

Onboarding & New Hire Experience

Owns the end-to-end onboarding process from offer acceptance through Day 1 and early employment milestones. Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills to provide a professional, compliant, and service-oriented onboarding experience. Coordinates the finalization of background checks, I-9/E-Verify, and required documentation while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity in Paycom. Collaborates with Talent and hiring managers to ensure a smooth, welcoming, and consistent new hire experience aligned with Goodwill’s mission and SOAR values.

Benefits Administration & Employee Support

Provides administrative and operational support to the Benefits & HR Operations Manager in the delivery of all employee benefits programs. Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when processing benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations. Assists with Health & Welfare (H&W) account coordination, open enrollment, and benefits audits. Supports the supervisor in maintaining accurate monthly tracking and reporting of employee benefits eligibility status (30+ hours) for Goodwill and Good Vocations employees to ensure compliance with ACA regulations and internal policies. Communicates effectively with employees, providing clear guidance and timely resolution to inquiries. Ensures compliance with ERISA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, GFCA (Georgia Family Care Act), and ADA requirements.

HRIS Data Integrity & Reporting

Maintains accurate and confidential employee data within HRIS (Paycom). Generates reports to support compliance tracking, audits, and onboarding metrics. Demonstrates analytical and technology proficiency to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across HR systems.

Collaboration & Service Excellence

Acts as a liaison between HR, Payroll, and managers to ensure efficient flow of information and task completion. Exhibits professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing service quality. Demonstrates collaboration, integrity, and responsiveness in support of Goodwill’s employee experience and mission-driven culture.



Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and Human Resources experience may substitute for degree.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in benefits administration, onboarding, or related Human Resources functions.

  • Experience with HRIS platforms and employee data management systems required.

  • Prior experience in a multi-site or nonprofit organization strongly preferred.

Certifications

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) preferred.

  • Benefits administration or HRIS certification a plus.

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia was founded in 1975. When James K. Stiff, came to Goodwill of Middle Georgia in 1994, the organization was still very small, employing only 60 individuals. Mr. Stiff saw the need for the services that Goodwill provides in the CSRA and added them in 1996. Since then, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has grown to over 700 individuals on payroll and 14 value retail stores.
