Job Description

Please note, we anticipate this role to work full time from April to May and August to September in 2026. There will be minimal to no hours available to work due to the FIFA World Cup in June and July.

Purpose

The Onboard Server reports into the Guest Services Manager.

This position is accountable for the dining room delivery of service excellence to onboard guests enabling the creation of life-changing experiences. This includes the delivery of all food & beverage services.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive. All onboard team members must adhere to and comply with onboard safety standards. This also includes reporting any violations or hazards to onboard management and providing support in the event of an emergency. This position requires periodic access to an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, the public, property, or the environment.

Important Timeline

Key Areas of Accountability

Deliver onboard guest experience

  • Create a welcoming environment for our guests to feel comfortable and valued by anticipating their needs, being attentive, and providing a high-quality guest experience
  • Resolve guest-related concerns by listening with empathy and providing timely resolution
  • Deliver meal services as per established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in a positive, polished, and professional manner
  • Ongoing railcar maintenance including, but not limited to, railcar set up, maintaining cleanliness in galleys, washrooms, and all guest facing areas, and ensuring correct inventory levels.
  • Adheres to waste management and reduction initiatives, including composting and recycling programs

Work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Flexibility to work in multiple railcars with varying teams
  • Applies the One Team approach in execution of duties both on and off the train and across all departments
  • Maintain clear and effective communication

Maintain Health and Safety Standards

  • Adheres to all applicable Health Canada regulations
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of work spaces
  • Knowledgeable about dietary requirements and food safe practices

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Knowledge

  • High School diploma or GED is an asset
  • Serving It Right (SIR) or Proserve is required
  • BC Food Safe certification is required
  • Valid First Aid certification is an asset
  • Fluency in English language
  • Fluency in additional languages is an asset
  • Valid form of ID for domestic travel requirements (passport, driving license, etc.)

Experience

  • 2+ years of service delivery in a full-dining (food and beverage), luxury/fine-dining establishment is required

Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Able to travel away from home base for up to 6 days at a time
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on a moving train

Hourly wage $20.50/hour plus gratuities
