Job Description

Fortuna is seeking a Field QA Inspector to support federal construction activities through on-site observation, inspection, and documentation. This role focuses on verifying that installed or removed equipment and construction activities align with contractual requirements, drawings, and specifications.

The Field QA Inspector works in an observational capacity only and does not perform construction work, use tools, or engage in physical labor beyond normal site walking and documentation. This position reports findings to project leadership and the Safety & Quality team.

This role is ideal for candidates with construction experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to document field observations in a regulated environment clearly.

Location: On-site – Amarillo, TX

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: Initial 3-month engagement with strong likelihood of multi-year extension

Work Schedule: Full-Time

Travel: On-site only initially; optional future travel to other states

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Quality Inspection & Observation

  • Observe construction activities and installed or removed equipment on an active job site
  • Confirm work aligns with contractual requirements, plans, and specifications
  • Read and interpret basic construction drawings, terminology, and scopes of work
  • Identify potential quality issues and deviations for reporting

Documentation & Reporting

  • Document observations clearly and accurately
  • Photograph work where authorized and in accordance with site rules
  • Prepare and submit inspection and observation reports to project leadership
  • Maintain organized records to support quality tracking and compliance

Site Coordination

  • Work safely and professionally on an active construction site
  • Coordinate with site personnel for access and observation timing
  • Follow all site safety and security requirements

What This Role Does Not Involve

  • No heavy lifting
  • No use of tools beyond basic writing or mobile documentation tools
  • No performance of construction or trade work
  • No authority to direct, stop, or alter construction activities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Comfortable working full-time on an active construction site
  • Ability to observe, document, and report objectively
  • Basic understanding of construction terminology and drawings
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail

Safety & Training Requirements

  • Safety qualifications completed within one week via online training
  • Willingness to comply with all site-specific safety and access requirements
