Job Description

Compensation Range: $33/hr - $35/hr commensurate with experience

Benefits:
We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion, based on your salary. Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement, tuition costs, and text books.

The On-Site Event Manager will be responsible for the management and execution of Private Events held at the Housing Works Bookstore. Acting as the point-person for all logistical aspects of the event, this position requires a reliable individual with strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Oversees and executes private events held at the Bookstore
  • Responsible for logical aspects of event management, production and preparation, and execution of events
  • Oversees vendors and per diem event staff to ensure that all aspects the private event runs smoothly from setup to breakdown
  • Attends relevant meetings with private events clients to prepare for events
  • Works with Private Events Sales Associate to gather all relevant information for each event
  • Maintains a safe event space by strictly adhering to Department of Health standards
  • Comply with all other legal, insurance, health, and safety regulations
  • Assists with staffing, training and managing per diem staff
  • Assists with timecard and tip approval for all per diem staff
  • Assists with executing annual reviews for per diem staff and ensuring understanding and compliance of policies and procedures

Secondary job responsibilities include:

  • Organize and maintain events storage areas, facilities and storage upkeep
  • Track and follow-up on all equipment and facilities maintenance
  • Maintain accurate inventory of beverage product, and events equipment
  • Maintain and communicate a continuous and recognizable standard of event execution, services and goods

Other functions are required with this position include:

  • Participate in at least four direction action per year aimed at ending the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS
  • Know the Housing Works mission statement and be able to inform and discuss with customers, volunteers, and donors
  • Embody the Housing Works values of Stronger Together, High Performance, Membership, and All In
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • Experience in event management and execution
  • TIPS, or equivalent New York State alcohol awareness certification, required
  • NYC Food Protection Certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of Square or other POS system preferred
  • Typical shifts are 3pm-12am
