Job Description

Electrician – HMP Garth, Leyland (PR26 8NE)

£30,866 – £36,135 | Permanent
39 hours per week | 8am–5pm
1 in 4 weekends (rota) + 15% allowance
Free parking | On-site gym

We’re recruiting a qualified Electrician for a permanent, single‑site role at HMP Garth

This is steady work on a long‑term MoJ contract – no travelling between sites, consistent hours and job security.

Key duties

  • Planned & reactive electrical maintenance
  • Fault finding and repairs
  • Minor works and like‑for‑like replacements
  • Testing and inspections to BS7671
  • Ensuring systems are safe, compliant and operational

Requirements

  • Level 2 Electrical qualification
  • 18th Edition (17th considered with training)
  • Electrical maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations
  • Able to work independently
  • Basic IT skills

Fire alarm/CCTV experience desirable but not essential.

Prison security clearance including Standard DBS required – full support provided by Amey.
