Open Position: On-Call Substitute Teachers

Reports to: Director of the Middle School or Director of the Upper School

UPrep is seeking to develop a list of on-call substitute teachers for various disciplines and grade levels to help us advance our vision of being an inclusive community of learners that provides an outstanding education for each individual in a diverse student population. We’re looking for energetic individuals who can adapt quickly to changing circumstances, individuals who works effectively independently as well as part of a team, and who are passionate about teaching to middle school and high school-aged children and enhancing student life. Under general supervision, and on a part-time temporary basis, teaches courses as needed in any of the following disciplines: English, Math, History, Science, Languages (Chinese, French and/or Spanish), Fine Arts, and Physical Education.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Provides classroom instruction and management
• Collaborates with colleagues, students, parents and administrators as appropriate
• Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
• Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in one of the disciplines listed above required
• Master’s degree preferred
• 2+ years’ teaching experience in a related field required
• 5+ years’ teaching experience preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
• Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows or Mac environment using Office, master common automated systems for record keeping, and learn new technology
• Comfortable with operating Audio/Visual equipment
• Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
• Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents

Pay & Benefits:

• Rate of Pay: $105 for 3.5 Hours (half day) or $210 for 7 hours (full day).
• Since this position is part-time and temporary, only mandated benefits are offered.
• Qualified substitutes will be added to a database of professionals that are contacted and paid directly by the school.
