The Banquet Houseperson will act as a liaison between the front and back of house, assist in all event positions. They are responsible for ensuring all of the events in house are setup in accordance to banquet event orders.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for proper setup and tear down phase of events
• Assist with post-event clean up and reset
• Transporting supplies, furniture, tables, chairs, stocking bars and action stations
• Complete knowledge and interpretation of buffet stations for particular services
• Have knowledge of floor plan, hours of operation, and time line of event
• Executes delivery of food from kitchen to tables
• Must work with a high sense of urgency
• Maintain event equipment and report any damage or issues there might be
• Properly care for, store and move tables, chairs, equipment and room supplies
• Participates as a team member for events when needed
• Assist with food preparation before and during the event.
• Clears dishes and glass ware when returning to kitchen (pre-buss)
• Ensures that all food and beverages delivered and served are served promptly, garnished correctly, and meet the quality and presentation standards
• Closely observe guests to ensure that they are satisfied with food, beverage, and service; immediately recognize and respond to any guest’s needs and/or requests
• Ability to perform multiple functions throughout the venue on an as-needed basis
• Always maintain a warm and friendly demeanor
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
• Perform other duties as requested by leadership
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

• High school or equivalent education preferred.

Experience

• Previous banquet experience in hotel preferred.
• Experience in luxury hotels or a related field preferred

Knowledge/Skills

• Must be able to communicate fluently in English for both written and verbal communications
• Proficiency with computer systems
• Ability to work a flexible schedule is required

• Pushing vacuum entire length of hallway, carrying supplies from department to assigned floor, carrying dirty linen to laundry, carrying dirty dishes to service area.
• Ability to lift up to 40-50 pounds during pre-opening, putting furniture and equipment in place.
• Bending/kneeling -dusting requires bending and kneeling to reach all areas.
• Ability to communicate with guests, housekeepers/main linen room attendant, supervisor.
• Ability to assess required reaction to meet standards.
• Mobility -movement to reach all areas of responsibility to include: shelves, windows, ledges, pipes, under and around furniture.
• Continuous standing -continuously standing and/or walking to accomplish all that is required for position.
• Climbing stairs -approximately 40 steps 15% of 40 hour week.
