OLE Construction Manager - Coatbridge, Scotland

Main Duties:

  • Manage all on-site aspects of OLE projects, ensuring delivery is safe, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead the proactive planning and coordination of resources, including labour, plant, and materials, ensuring requirements are identified, requested, and delivered in line with programme needs.
  • Ensure the timely submission and coordination of all possession/access and isolation requests, maintaining close liaison with relevant stakeholders to secure approvals and prevent delays to planned works.
  • Coordinate site activities with supervisors, ensuring accurate and timely completion of daily reports, shift records, and timesheets.
  • Plan, organise, and roster site teams in collaboration with senior management to meet project requirements efficiently.
  • Maintain effective communication with OLE Engineers, supervisors, and client representatives to ensure alignment on project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure all works are undertaken using approved “For Construction” drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor and manage material availability, liaising with depot/stores to ensure supply meets programme demands and escalating any shortages.
  • Coordinate with other contractors’ site teams to avoid conflicts and ensure efficient integration of works.
  • Ensure appropriate railway safety protection and competencies are in place (e.g. COSS, Machine Controller, Lookout).
  • Verify that all plant, tools, equipment, and transport arrangements are available, fit for purpose, and supported by valid certification.
  • Ensure compliance with Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans (WPPs), and task briefings, and that all site teams are fully briefed on scope, risks, and controls.
  • Confirm that all personnel receive appropriate railway safety briefings regarding possessions, isolations, and protection arrangements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress including 10% checks for project, safety, and quality, ensuring issues are identified and addressed promptly.
  • Complete site surveys and ensure accurate capture of as-built information.
  • Undertake regular safety tours and inspections, producing reports and ensuring timely close-out of actions.
  • Lead and supervise site supervisors, ensuring consistent standards in safety, quality, reporting, and site management.

The person:

  • Experience in supervising OLE projects and operatives on the projects.
  • Valid PTS and OLEC 4 qualification (minimum)
  • Computer literacy including various software programmes.
  • Willingness to travel and to learn and open minded for new technologies
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support as required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Full driving licence and vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to stay calm and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to different locations as and when required.
