TITLE: Oktoberfest Cook
LOCATION: Snowbird Center

SCHEDULE: Saturdays and Sundays (as well as Labor Day 9/7) | Approx. 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Running from mid-August through mid-October, this vibrant event brings together live entertainment, authentic cuisine, family-friendly activities, and, of course, world-class brews.
We areseekingenthusiastic, service-driven individuals to join our Oktoberfest team and help deliver exceptional guest experiences in a dynamic, high-energy environment.
As an Oktoberfest Cook, under the direction of Oktoberfest Management Team, you will provide a positive experience to Snowbird guests and co-workers during Oktoberfest. You will prep and serve all food & beverage to guests, exceeding their expectations followed by food & beverage and sanitation standards, cashiering, serving food, stock glasses, bussing tables, take out trash, wash dishes and other duties as needed. In addition, you will setup and tear down the event as directed.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis.
Maintains good safety practices of employees throughout the kitchen.
Participates in on-going employee training.
Obtains assigned station from Chef at the beginning of the shift.
Prepares mis en place for his/her station and is ready to assist others if needed.
Completes daily duties before and after the shift.
Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.
Wash dishes as needed.
Handles guest concerns in a professional manner.
Maintains line of communication between Chef, Sous Chef and other kitchen staff.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
4-6 months job related experience preferred with demonstrated competence.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Food handlers Permit – Required by training date. (August 1st or 2nd)
Ability to follow directions, must be able to comfortably communicate in English, ability to work in either a team or individually without constant supervision.
Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
Must demonstrate competency in reading writing and arithmetic and have the basic knowledge of culinary terms and knife skills. In addition, must demonstrate the ability to learn recipes, handle all kitchen equipment, and lean basic kitchen techniques. Candidate must have the ability to multi-task i.e., prep several items at once while accepting direction from the Chef or Sous Chef.
Position requires exercise of judgment within policy guidelines, problem solving and initiation of activities written job description and responsibility limitations. Also requires understanding of other Snowbird operations.
WORK SCHEDULE
Must be available to work every weekend from mid-August through mid-October, including Labor Day weekend
Required attendance at training/orientation (8/1 or 8/2)
Events are held rain or shine; shifts may vary slightly within scheduled hours
UNIFORM REQUIRMENTS
Solid black pants (must fit waist, no jeans or baggy pants), comfortable shoes, closed toe and no bright colors, black socks.
We will provide one uniform shirt, apron, hat and name tag that must be worn everyday once you are clocked in.
Weather varies greatly from day to day so always be prepared with jacket, hat and gloves.
Events will never be canceled for bad weather, but we may send people home.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Stress associated with high volume sales, heavy crowds, and high noise levels due to live entertainment.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
Outside environment in a mountain setting: weather will range from hot and sunny to cold and wet, possibly changing conditions drastically throughout the day. Walking through heavy crowds, up and down stairs, up and down hills.
