Job Description

Imagine a future where you take on complex technical challenges and help optimise offshore wind operations through innovative and reliable tooling solutions.

Join us in this role where you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing specialised tools and equipment that enable safe and efficient execution of wind turbine generator special tasks, inspections, and major component exchanges across our offshore assets.

Welcome to Special Tasks & Inspections

You’ll be part of the Technical Management team, where you, together with your colleagues, will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of tools and equipment solutions supporting offshore activities on a global footprint. The team delivers tooling solutions for major component exchanges, up‑tower repairs, wind turbine and drivetrain inspections, as well as foundation inspections above and below water.

As a team, we value collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a strong technical culture that turns expertise into practical, high‑quality solutions used across offshore operations.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • managing and executing the development and implementation of specialised tools and lifting equipment including elements such as design work, verifications and test activities
  • translating input from a wide range of stakeholders into clear, technical solution requirements
  • providing technical support related to tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient field operations
  • producing, reviewing, and maintaining high‑quality technical documentation for tools and equipment.
  • monitoring market trends within tooling, ensuring innovation and digitalisation are integrated into new developments
  • supporting tools coordinators with technical expertise to ensure smooth day‑to‑day warehouse operations.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a completed degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent experience
  • bring relevant experience from a technical specialist role within offshore wind or a related industry, ideally with tools and equipment
  • have knowledge of design and development processes, including requirement setting, solution design, verification, and certification
  • demonstrate an operational mindset combined with a hands‑on, action‑oriented approach
  • collaborate confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, translating complex technical topics into clear and actionable communication
  • communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, across multiple stakeholder levels.

Please note that this is an office‑based role; however, you should be open to travelling to Ørsted sites for approximately 15% of your working time.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.

About Ørsted

Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world.

Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy.

We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder.

As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.
