Job Description

RINA is currently recruiting for a Offshore Geotechnical Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Rome, Milan - Italy within the Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division.

Mission

RINA is strengthening its offshore geotechnical engineering capability and is looking for an Offshore Geotechnical Engineer, registered as a protected category under Italian

Law 68/99, to support the development and delivery of offshore infrastructure projects.

The role focuses on geotechnical design and site characterization for offshore foundations, subsea pipelines and marine structures, across concept selection, FEED and detailed design phases.

It is suited to Engineers with offshore or marine geotechnical experience, comfortable working in multidisciplinary project teams and contributing as technical specialists. #LI-MT3

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as geotechnical specialist for offshore and marine infrastructure projects, supporting engineering decisions across all project phases
  • Interpret offshore site investigation data (CPTu, boreholes, laboratory testing, geophysical surveys) and define geotechnical design parameters
  • Design and assess offshore foundation systems (e.g. piles, suction caissons, anchors, mudmats, gravity-based structures)
  • Identify and evaluate key offshore geohazards such as seabed instability, liquefaction, scour and slope failure
  • Support offshore geotechnical site investigation planning and technical review of acquisition activities when required
  • Review and validate geotechnical deliverables produced by third parties
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations and design documentation in line with international offshore standards
  • Collaborate with structural, marine, geophysical and environmental disciplines in multidisciplinary teams
  • Occasional travel linked to project requirements

Education

Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent; PhD is a plus
  • at least 3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with exposure to offshore or marine infrastructure projects
  • experience in / knowledge of offshore geotechnical design and interpretation of site investigation data
  • Good understanding of marine soil behaviour under cyclic and long-term loading conditions
  • Familiarity with offshore standards (e.g. DNV, ISO, API)
  • Experience with numerical modelling is considered an advantage #LI-MT3

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480). The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €36000 and €48000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies and overall alignment with the role. In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements. The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
