Wood is recruiting for an Offshore Construction Supervisor to join our team in Equatorial Guinea.

We require an Offshore Construction Supervisor with extensive experience in tank integrity and repairs in shipyards, FPSO's or marine related sites.

Location: offshore Equatorial Guinea

Rotation Work Pattern: 5 weeks on 5 weeks off, 7-day week 12-hour day

This position is to assist the Project Manager and the team working in the tanks. It is a high-risk project carrying out continual work within a confined space, therefore, safety behaviour is of upmost importance and critical to the safe execution of this work.

The Construction Supervisor must ensure all procedures and safe working practices are being followed at all times and carry out checks consistently to ensure quality standards are being adhered to and all safety procedures are being followed.

The Construction Supervisor will lead the “Toolbox Talks’” before the start of each shift, the Toolbox Talk must include the work scope intended for that day. The Construction Supervisor must be satisfied by the end of the talk that the entire workforce is aware of their duties for that day.

Has the responsibility to encourage and introduce different themes during the Toolbox Talk to maintain motivation and safety culture amongst the work force.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Project Manager and a team offshore
  • Supervision of the ballast tanks integrity campaign for tension leg platform (TLP): cleaning, inspection, repair, sandblasting and painting.
  • Management of teams working in confined spaces.
  • Management of service providers and interfaces.
  • Must possess previous experience in welding and construction (Dual shield welding process, Gas Shielded Flux Core Arc Welding, Manual metal arc welding process and/or Plasma arc cutting and gouging)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree or relevant technical qualification trades certification.

Job Specific Skills:

  • Mechanical/Construction/Naval/Equipment Technician with extensive experience or Engineer level (same correlated areas) with experience, both in the offshore energy industry with relevant exposure to fabrication projects for piping and structural components for production systems.
  • Experience in a similar tank integrity and repair in O&G / Marine environment is essential.
  • Skills in ships construction / repair, NDT inspection.
  • Welding and construction knowledge.
  • Manual metal arc welding process.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment process and implementation of control measure.
  • Experience with rope access.

PC Application Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge in SAP environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational and customer services and team oriented.
  • Fluent and competent in communicating in English language, verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment alongside other technical disciplines.
  • Leadership skills in managing ship or structural repair.

  • Onsite problem solving – day to day onsite issues.
