Commercial Project Engineer – Office/Traveling | Alabama

Join an established commercial general contractor supporting project teams throughout the full construction process. Opportunities are available for both office-based and traveling Project Engineers, providing hands-on exposure to project management, field operations, subcontractor coordination, documentation, scheduling, safety, and quality control.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare, track, and maintain RFIs, submittals, drawing logs, and project documentation
• Support Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination
• Maintain organized and current electronic project files and document control
• Assist with jobsite documentation and field reporting
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors and track material deliveries and lead times
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Participate in project and subcontractor meetings and distribute meeting documentation
• Assist with permit and regulatory tracking as needed
• Support schedule updates and overall project coordination
• Assist with safety and quality-control efforts on active projects
• Help develop punch lists and complete project closeout documentation
• Communicate with owners, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
• Support additional project management and field responsibilities as experience develops

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
• Entry-level through approximately 2 years of commercial construction or engineering experience
• Construction internships or co-op experience are strongly valued
• Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and terminology
• Strong organization, communication, and follow-through
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment and managing multiple priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
• Exposure to Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project is a plus
• Willingness to work from the office, travel to projects, or pursue a traveling assignment depending on fit and preference
