Job Description

Emerging Technologies Support

  • Assist in collecting, reviewing, classifying, and summarizing information on new aviation technologies, services, operational concepts, and associated risks.
  • Support administrative and technical coordination for policy, regulatory, certification, licensing, airworthiness, and operational initiatives related to, advanced air mobility, automated and autonomous operations, and other novel / emerging aviation technologies.
  • Maintain and periodically update a database or register of relevant technology initiatives, research, international developments, industry stakeholders, events, and exhibitions.
  • Monitor published developments, standards, guidance, and industry practices and prepare basic summaries, briefing notes, presentations, and action trackers for management and technical specialists.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, consultations, demonstrations, and events with internal departments, government entities, industry stakeholders, research institutes, and service providers, including agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
  • Support in receiving and tracking applications, requests, and supporting documents related to emerging technology services, verifying completeness and referring technical matters to the responsible specialist or inspector.
  • Support the collection, validation, and basic analysis of operational data related to automated and autonomous aviation operations under the guidance of technical staff

Advanced Air Mobility Support

  • Support in benchmarking advanced air mobility systems, processes, regulations, and operational practices and in identifying potential areas for improvement.
  • Support coordination with internal business units and external stakeholders, including the UAE Federal and Local Authorities, air navigation service providers, ministries, research institutes, and industry, regarding the safe integration of advanced air mobility into UAE airspace.
  • Maintain records and action trackers relating to airspace integration, Digital Flight Rules, federal legislation, cross-border arrangements, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Assist in preparing, formatting, updating, and distributing advanced air mobility standards, guidance, procedures, presentations, agreements, MOUs, and consultation material.
  • Support stakeholder consultations and consolidate comments and feedback for review by management and technical specialists.
  • Ensure approved documents and information are organised and made available through the relevant GCAA channels, as directed.

Safety, Occurrence and Cyber Security Support

  • Assist in maintaining risk, hazard, change management, contingency, and mitigation records relating to emerging technologies and follow up assigned actions with relevant departments and stakeholders.
  • Support the collection and organisation of information required for incident and accident coordination with the Air Accident Investigation Sector and other concerned units, without undertaking independent technical investigation or determination.
  • Provide administrative and documentation support to relevant cyber security committees or working groups, including recording potential issues, maintaining confidentiality, and tracking agreed actions.
  • Escalate identified safety, operational, or cyber security concerns to the responsible manager or technical specialist for assessment and decision.

Document Management and Standardisation

  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and traceable records of applications, certifications, reports, recommendations, research, meeting records, and related documents.
  • Receive, classify, consolidate, summarise, process, and archive documents in accordance with GCAA records management procedures.
  • Maintain a structured digital and physical filing system and an organised library of applicable regulations, standards, manuals, guidance, research, and approved forms.
  • Support document quality checks, formatting, version control, and publication updates to ensure consistency with GCAA requirements.
  • Conduct file research and document verification to respond to queries and support projects, audits, and regulatory development activities.
  • Maintain and periodically update the Emerging Technologies achievements and initiatives register for reporting and communication purposes.

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

  • Assist management in maintaining ongoing liaison with UAE civil aviation stakeholders and other relevant entities to support the introduction of appropriate risk controls for emerging technologies.
  • Implement Safety Affairs policies, systems, processes, and procedures so that applicable procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high-quality safety services to the UAE civil aviation industry in accordance with customer service standards.
  • Assist in identifying process gaps and improvement opportunities, including the use of digital tools and standardised trackers to improve coordination, traceability, and service delivery.

Reporting

  • Ensure that assigned functional reports, presentations, registers, meeting records, and status updates are prepared accurately and on time and meet GCAA requirements and quality standards.

Health, Safety and Environment within GCAA

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products and services, and a responsible environmental attitude as per applicable IMS standards.

Other Tasks / Accountability

  • Perform additional tasks relevant to the role or area of work as requested by management to support the achievement of departmental objectives and commitments.
