Animal
Industry is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to
join our team. The office specialist position will assist management and other
staff in the division and manage day-to-day office duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare
    and/or process documents; review for accuracy and completeness; update
    information and/or evaluate against policy; compare elements for consistency or
    logical relationships, etc.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written
    materials.
  • Types and prepares reports or other written materials from source documents,
    transcription, etc.
    Retrieves data found in databases to generate requested reports.
  • Assists the public with questions related to animal agriculture.
  • Assists programs within Animal Industry, booking travel, processing
    reimbursements, etc.
  • Acts as a resource to provide information or determine the most effective way
    of meeting the needs of management, staff, clients or customers.
  • Enter data into databases and verify data entry by comparing the source
    document against input data, utilizing automated verification systems, using
    dual entry or other verification techniques.
  • Maintains and/or creates files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files
    and retrieves documents, or other materials.
  • Reviews applications, files, records, etc., to determine action to be taken.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge
    of standard business practices.
  • Basic understanding of applications, data principles, and problem-solving
    methodologies.
  • Ability to assess workload and effectively plan daily schedules.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple
    tasks.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with operators, the general
    public, and other government agencies.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies,
    and/or procedures.
  • Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience or knowledge in animal health or agriculture or a strong
    willingness to learn.
