Job Description

The OPAT Youth Advisory Council is a forum where youth aged 14 to 18 from around Boston are encouraged to engage and advocate for police reform. Our overall objective is to give youth a safe space to be heard, where we can discuss public safety issues in our communities from our perspective. We strive to end the disconnect between the youth and the Boston Police Department by building positive connections through communication, accountability and transparency.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Works to develop the Youth Advisory Board. Engages on important social justice issues impacting the community. Attends periodic training opportunities offered by the department. Participates in daily activities of the OPAT office across a variety of topics. Performs day-to-day administrative duties including mail receipt and distribution and provides other support as needed. Performs related work as required

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise. Contribute towards the success of others with organizational tasks. Strong time-management skills to handle multiple tasks according to stated timelines in a busy office. Ability to think strategically and proactively. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the Google suite.
