
Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager, is responsible for working with the Providers and practice team to coordinate and ensure the delivery of quality care and medical services.
· Accurately documents patient's chief complaint, medical history, vital signs, heights/weights and completes pertinent forms within the Electronic Medical Record and in accordance with the Best Practice Work Flows
· Rooms/Prepares/instructs/positions and drapes the patient
· Prepares and draws up injections, assists with suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and casting
· Provide patients with educational materials in collaboration with the Provider. Instructs patients about medications, diet, and exercise; care plan goals and preventative guidelines specific to the diagnosis
· Ensures timely telephone assessments, including triage of appropriate care for patients with accurate documentation and prioritized scheduling, first call resolutions
· Triage same day appointments, ED follow ups, referrals and acute injuries, working closely with PAC’s to ensure patients are seen timely
· Orders medications within Hospital policy for refills and prescription processing
· In collaboration with the patient’s Provider, provides nurse visits that enhance compliance with treatment plan goals. Documents each visit so as to allow for appropriate coding and billing
· Schedules appointments and completes orders for patients for appointments, procedures, tests, and consultations with other Providers as requested by the Provider
· Completes and processes referrals, pre-certifications, or pre-approvals as needed.
· Prior authorizations for injections
· Answers the telephone, files, and retrieves records as needed
· Ensures efficient patient flow and provides timely assessment of patients presenting at the office
· Provides clinical support for all Providers and Physicians
· Performs Chart prep in advance to assists Providers and Physicians with review of reports and clinical studies and to ensure appropriate information is brought forward to the appointment
· Assists Providers and Physicians with communication to patients regarding test results, recommendations, and responses to treatment plans
· Works collaboratively with the Surgical Optimization Team to ensure open communication for a seamless transition from office to surgery
· Prepares the examination room with needed supplies, instruments, and equipment, and maintains room in a clean manner
· Ensures the Providers and Physicians are on schedule being mindful of emergencies and unexpected interruptions
· Acts as a clinical mentor in the practice providing feedback and guidance to Medical Assistants
· Communicates clinical education needs to the Practice Manager in an effort to optimize functional team capacity
· Works with Practice Manager and Practice Director to improve and/or implement clinical workflows within the practice
· Works with Care Coordinators and Quality Management liaisons to help close identified patient care gaps; inspire clinical teams to strive for targeted quality goals; and link patients and their family members to resources for optimal care compliance
· Supervises the maintenance of an inventory of supplies and equipment as required to perform clinical services
· Ensures that emergency equipment is checked and functional
· Cares, cleans, and sterilizes equipment per instructions or established procedures
· Ensures hazardous materials are stored, handled, and disposed of in accordance with Hospital policies
· Works in collaboration with the Pharmacy Department regarding patients who are in need/eligible for sample medications, adhering to established process of communication and procurement at Huggins pharmacy
· Orders medical supplies and medications as needed and keeps exam rooms and bathrooms stocked
· Attendance: Attendance is an essential job function; employee comes to work daily, on time, and completes scheduled shift

· Interpersonal relationships: maintains appropriate interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and visitors at all times. Works as a team member with other departments.
· Safety: Practices workplace safety daily
· Actively participates in all hospital Service Excellence initiatives and trainings
· Attends and participates in a minimum of 50% department staff meetings and signs off on review of 100% department staff meeting minutes
· Completes all required annual education on or before the due date

· Familiarity with computer and other business machines
Completion of RN or LPN program
One year of office experience preferred
NH RN or LPN license
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
