About the Role
Handyman Connection is looking for an Office Manager to help run the day-to-day operations of our local business.
This is a hands-on position. You'll work closely with the owner, our craftsmen, customers, and office staff to keep jobs moving, schedules full, and customers taken care of.
We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, good with people, and comfortable making decisions. Home service or construction experience is very helpful, but it's not required. What matters most is that you take ownership of your work and don't need someone standing over your shoulder to get things done.
What You'll Be Doing
A typical week will include:
- Managing the daily schedule and coordinating jobs with our craftsmen
- Scheduling estimates and making sure we have enough opportunities on the calendar
- Following up with customers on estimates and open projects
- Keeping an eye on booked work and upcoming revenue
- Assist the craftsmen in placing / tracking large material orders
- Working with craftsmen when schedules change or job issues come up
- Making sure customers are kept informed throughout the project
- Reviewing completed jobs and watching labor, material costs, and job profitability
The Office Manager is often the person who sees an issue before anyone else does. We need someone who will pick up the phone, solve the problem, and keep things moving.
What We're Looking For
You don't need to know the handyman business on day one. We can teach the business. We're looking for someone who brings the right habits and attitude.
You'll probably do well here if you:
- Are organized and good at keeping track of details
- Communicate well with different types of people
- Are comfortable talking with customers on the phone
- Are comfortable working with numbers and basic business reports
- Enjoy solving problems and take responsibility for results
- Want to learn more about how a business actually operates
Experience That Would Be Helpful
We're open to different backgrounds. Experience in any of these areas would translate well:
- Office management
- Dispatching or scheduling
- Home services
- Construction or remodeling
- Property management
If you've worked in a busy service business where schedules change, customers need answers, and several things are happening at once, you'll understand the environment.
Opportunity to Grow
We're looking for someone who wants to grow with the business.
At Handyman Connection, the Office Manager can develop into a larger leadership role over time. As you learn the operation, you'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility for team leadership, job profitability, recruiting, marketing and business planning.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay
- Performance-based bonus opportunities
- Training and ongoing coaching
- A locally owned and operated business
- Support from an established national brand
- Opportunity to grow into greater responsibility
