The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

This position is with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA). Oregon OSHA is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers.

This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Due to the nature of the duties performed by this position, telework is not available.

Here’s what you will do:

As an Office Coordinator, you will provide administrative support to the Tigard field office and ensure workflow processes meet compliance standards as outlined in the Oregon Safe Employment Act.

Here’s what you need to qualify:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data

OR

  • An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Requested Skills

  • Ability to multi-task with a high degree of attention to detail

  • Experience with answering a multi-line phone system

  • Experience with communicating in a clear and concise manner with coworkers and customers

  • Experience with proof reading and editing another employee’s work product and providing professional feedback

  • Strong skills in organization work efficiently and managing multiple task with interruptions, as well as managing heavy work load with competing deadlines

  • Preference may be given to applicants who can fluently speak, read, and write Spanish

Additional information:

  • Per the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, an employee pay assessment will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered. The assessment will be based on the relevant experience, education, training, and certifications documented in the application materials. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range.

  • The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible after 6 months of employment, the salary range will increase by 6.95% and the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay.
