  • Under limited supervision performs a variety of complex administrative duties in the office of the ombudsmen for the director's office.
  • Plan, supervise, coordinate and deliver customer service.
  • Review e-mails & phone calls to determine proper routing.
  • Conducts follow through on concerns and ensure they are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Document In the constituent services spreadsheet for tracking.
  • Receives and distributes incoming mail to the appropriate staff members, documenting as needed on the automated system for tracking purposes.
  • Routes correspondence to the proper officials.
  • Responds to ARTSM for the office, to include entering paper 19-11 requests to staff member.
  • Drafts position descriptions, position action requests, employee performance management system. Enter leave and attendance records.
  • Drafts retirement letters, cards, miscellaneous corr.
  • Complete travel paperwork.
  • Prepare books for various meetings.
  • This position has daily contact with inmates.

Examples of duties

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services or a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirement:

  • A high school diploma and five years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.

  • A degree may be substituted for up to four years of the related work experience on a year-for-year basis.
