Coding Specialists 2 are an important part of the Team at CorroHealth. The Coding Team Member will provide CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding for 4 or more specialties for one or more clients, facility, or multiple facilities or clients. The Coding Specialist 2 will code Professional Fee, Facility or HCC. The Coding Specialist 2 could be an Inpatient coder or could include a minimum of four specialists. Professional Fee Specialties could include UR, Podiatry, Plastics, Pediatrics, OB, Pain Management, Ortho, Addiction, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, Pulmonary, or ED. Facility Chart types could include IR, Infection Disease, OBS, Oncology, Neurology, SDS, OT, PT, Urgent Care, ED, or a variety of other specialties.

Requires 1+ working experience in family medicine, multi-specialty, ortho, profee coding
Optometry coding a plus
CPC required
3M and Meditech experience a plus

Flexible hours and schedule - 40 hours/week

ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Member must be able to work from home and be independent in their coding skills

  • Provide various components of coding services tosupportourclients

  • CalculateProFeeand/orFacility E/M levelsby using an algorithm created by our company (training is provided)

  • Recognize critical care casesbypatient acuity

  • Code surgical procedures typical of an ER setting to captureadditionalrevenue whenappropriate

  • Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest level of specificity available

  • Accurately apply diagnosis and procedure codesutilizingICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS

  • Interpret coding guidelines foraccuratecodeassignment

  • Identifythe importance of documentation on code assignment and thesubsequentreimbursement impact

  • Mustmaintainquality and productivity standards

  • Communicatewith clients in a professional mannerthatfosters an excellentworkingrelationshipto support the company and its business interests

  • MayassistLeadership, or Lead Coding Specialist, withreports as needed

  • Potential opportunityto begin helping with auditing

  • Align conduct with AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and support the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Program

  • Comply withall internal policies and procedures

  • All Coders mustmaintainat least one credential either through AAPC or AHIMA.

  • ActivelyparticipateinCompanyprovided training and education

  • Ensure individual compliance with all privacy and security rules and regulations and commit to the protection of all Company confidential information, including but not limited to, Personal Health Information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • All coders MUST be certified through either the AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P)

  • Must havea minimum of 2yearsofexperience

  • Must haveadvancedworking knowledge and experience with systems such as EMR, Billing,etc

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft programs like Excel and Outlook.Examples include:

  • Excelyou should be able toopen and add to a spreadsheet,perform basic formulaslike adding or multiplying, and create a basic pivot table.

  • Outlooksyou should be able to manage emails and scheduleand attendmeetings.

  • Must havecurrentcoding materials such as CPTand ICD-10-CM coding references.

  • Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance isrequired

  • Will berequiredtomaintainan ongoing productivity level and accuracy rate of 95%or higher.

  • Will berequiredtomaintainan ongoing qualityscore of95% or higher

  • Abilityto communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and written

  • Ability to coordinate, analyze,observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines

  • May berequiredto perform other duties as assigned byLeadership Team Member

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, Team Members are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, Team Member must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Team Member may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
