Position Title Student Assistant, Office of the Provost
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Rate: $16.00
Location: Hybrid with regular check-ins with the Provost’s Office
Reports To: Rita Hansen, Executive Assistant to the Provost, Babson College
The Office of the Provost seeks a motivated student assistant to support a variety of academic and administrative initiatives through research, writing, editing and project support. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience and exposure to higher education leadership The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong writing skills who can work independently and provide high-quality, concise summaries and insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Research Support Conduct background research on higher education trends, academic initiatives, peer institutions, and campus programs; synthesize findings into clear summaries and briefing notes.
- Proofreading & Quality Review: Review documents and web content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and tone; ensure alignment with institutional style and messaging.
- Writing Assistance Draft short-form content such as summaries, talking points, and project descriptions.
- Project & Event Coordination Support ongoing academic and administrative projects and events by organizing materials, tracking tasks, and preparing documents.
- Data & Document Support Assist with organizing materials, maintain research notes and citations, format documents, and support version tracking for assigned projects.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and analytical skills
- Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise summaries
- Detail‑oriented, with excellent grammar and proofreading ability
- Creative thinker who can generate ideas and approach problems from multiple angles
- Professionalism, discretion, and reliability when handling sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Experience with academic research or writing‑intensive coursework
- Familiarity with higher‑education environments or institutional communications
- Comfort with tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and citation managers
Work Environment & Expectations
- Part‑time position - 10-15 hours per week during the academic year
