We are seeking a candidate with the following competencies:
Customer Service: Maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with the public or other agencies, while providing timely, attentive service, making sure the customer's needs are met in a manner that reflects positively on our division.
Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.
Attention To Detail: sees and pays attention to details; recognizes the component parts of a procedure or object, and can verify correctness or error in an individual part or procedure.
Clerical: applies knowledge of clerical equipment and software, processes, techniques, and professional standards to complete routine office work to generally accepted professional standards. Completes work independently with minimal supervision. Use skills and abilities to complete tasks consisting of many different and connected parts, including deciding which processes to use.
All positions require a successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
Additionally, while the Division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the State.
The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.
High school diploma or G.E.D.;
OR
Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college (this includes acceptance in a concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment program);
OR
A Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys® scores of skill level 3 or higher in: Graphic Literacy (formerly Locating Information), Applied Math, and Workplace Documents (formerly Reading for Information).

ACT WorkKeys® skill testing and career readiness certification is available at the Department of Labor and Workforce Development's Alaska Job Centers.
"Acceptance in full standing" means acceptance to a post-secondary program by a college or university and does not require enrollment or participation in the program. This includes acceptance in a program offering college credits while in high school, or both high school and college credits, but does not include taking advanced placement courses in high school.
Some positions in this class require the incumbent operate a State vehicle. Such positions require the selected candidate possess a valid driver's license and be 18 years of age or older on or before the first day of employment.
