Purpose of the Job

The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the engineering team in the development of innovative railway electrification components, with a focus on improving technology, reducing costs, and expanding the product portfolio offered to the market.

The engineer will be primarily involved in the design, industrialization, and validation of mechanical components for various rail electrification systems, including:

  • Rigid Overhead Catenary Systems (ROCS)
  • Third Rail Systems (TRS)
  • Ground-level electrification solutions such as Automatic People Movers (APM) and M onorail systems

This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional technical departments such as quality, industrialization, and manufacturing to address and resolve technical challenges related to the mechanical design and implementation of electrification systems.

Responsabilities

  • Performing all the engineering activities in compliance with QCD commitments
  • Supporting Quality, Industrialization and Manufacturing teams during the homologation process
  • Performing 2D and 3D drawings with Autocad and Solidworks
  • Performing mechanical FEM simulations with Solidworks package

Educational requirements

  • Engineering degree

Knowledge & Experience

  • Mechanical engineering preferably applied to electrification products
  • knowledgeable in SOLIDWORKS FEM package or equivalent
  • Basic electric and thermal calculation skills (theoretical and numerical)
  • Demostrate understanding of basic manufacturing technologies
  • Good comunications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (suppliers)
  • Time management and reporting skills
  • Structured and organised with Hands-on approach
  • English operational in read/writing and technical meetings
  • Preferably knowledgeable in SAP/GSI production palnning (PP) package
