Job Description

Essential Job Functions

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, coach, and develop Ocean Pricing Specialists to ensure consistent performance and professional growth.
  • Manage daily workflow and workload distribution within the pricing team.
  • Monitor team productivity, service levels, and quote turnaround times.
  • Conduct regular performance discussions and contribute to annual performance reviews.
  • Train team members on pricing procedures, systems, carrier updates, and best practices.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for pricing-related issues and customer service concerns.

Pricing & Commercial Support

  • Oversee preparation and response to spot and long-term ocean freight pricing requests for FCL and LCL shipments.
  • Review and approve pricing submissions within established authority levels.
  • Ensure quotations align with company pricing strategies, profitability objectives, and market conditions.
  • Support the U.S. organization with pricing solutions for global ocean opportunities.
  • Coordinate with overseas offices, agents, and commercial teams to develop complete end-to-end pricing solutions.
  • Support strategic opportunities, key accounts, and complex pricing proposals.

Carrier Procurement & Market Management

  • Negotiate and procure rates with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, and co-loaders within approved parameters.
  • Monitor market trends, carrier pricing, capacity conditions, and industry developments.
  • Provide market intelligence and pricing recommendations to management and commercial teams.

Process & Systems Management

  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of WebCargo, Catapult, and other internal pricing systems.
  • Monitor pricing data quality and reporting accuracy.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Generate and review pricing performance reports and KPI metrics.
  • Support system enhancements, testing, and training initiatives as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, compliance requirements, and pricing guidelines.
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Job will require punctual attendance and regular presence on-site at the assigned work location.

  • Experience with WebCargo, Catapult, SharePoint, Outlook, and related transportation systems.
  • Strong understanding of ocean freight markets, carrier procurement, and pricing strategies.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of ocean freight pricing or ocean operations experience.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience negotiating with ocean carriers and managing customer pricing solutions.
