Job Description

Manage and oversee the transportation of ocean freight, both inbound and outbound, to ensure operations adhere to plan and operational standards. The primary goal is to manage end-to-end maritime logistics to ensure maximum efficiency in terms of cost, transit time, and cargo safety, while maintaining strong relationships with shipping companies and freight forwarders to maximize customer satisfaction.


KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  1. Operational Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end ocean freight forwarding operations, including booking, documentation, cargo consolidation, shipment tracking, and delivery coordination.
  • Ensure efficient management of FCL (Full Container Load), LCL (Less than Container Load), and special cargo shipments.
  • Supervise daily operations to ensure compliance with company SOPs, international shipping regulations, and service standards.
  • Monitor shipment schedules to ensure on-time departures and arrivals, minimizing delays and disruptions.
  1. Carrier and Vendor Management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, port operators, and logistics partners.
  • Negotiate freight rates, service contracts, and space allocations with carriers to ensure cost competitiveness.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  1. Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and managing the ocean freight operations team, including coordinators, documentation staff, and customer service representatives.
  • Set performance targets, conduct staff evaluations, and ensure continuous professional development.
  • Implement best practices and workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  1. Customer Relationship Management
  • Act as the key point of contact for major clients regarding ocean freight services.
  • Provide logistics consultation and solutions tailored to customer supply chain needs.
  • Resolve shipment issues, claims, and operational challenges while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  1. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Monitor changes in shipping laws, port regulations, and global trade policies affecting ocean freight operations.
  • Ensure proper documentation including Bill of Lading, manifests, export/import documentation, and cargo declarations.
  1. Financial and Cost Control
  • Manage the ocean freight department budget, controlling operational costs and maximizing profitability.
  • Analyze freight cost structures, margin performance, and revenue opportunities.
  • Review billing against selling & cost.
  • Prepare management reports on shipment volume, revenue performance, and operational KPIs.
  1. Strategic Planning and Optimization
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize shipping routes, transit times, and freight utilization.
  • Forecast cargo volumes and plan capacity requirements with carriers and partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, digitalization, and supply chain performance.
  1. Risk Management and Problem Resolution
  • Proactively manage risks related to port congestion, schedule changes, cargo damage, or documentation issues.
  • Handle freight claims, operational disruptions, and emergency logistics situations.
  • Implement contingency planning to maintain service continuity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 6 years of ocean freight operations experience in a freight forwarding environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight operations, customs clearance, Thai regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Team, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Under a good health condition.
  • No personal criminal record with the Royal Thai Police.
