The Ocean Freight FCL/LCL Sr. Manager will be responsible for driving, and adjusting as necessary, the Toll Group strategic plan across South India sub-cluster in the following key areas:

1.Carrier strategy and relationship

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key global and regional carriers
  • Identify new and dependable carriers / NVO that can support Toll in strategic tradelanes or niche markets
  • Support Cluster Head of Ocean Freight (ISC) in optimize key trade lanes and product offerings across India especially South India sub-cluster
  • Drive carrier performance review, including service reliability, cost competitiveness, and capacity assurance
  • Provide the Cluster Head of Ocean Freight (ISC) with local intel, market trends and feedback on carrier performance especially related to challenges and new Product offerings

2.Operational process and execution

  • Oversee operational performance across the South India sub-cluster, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and service excellence
  • Drive process improvements, digitalization, and standardization initiatives across Ocean Freight operations in South India sub-cluster

Be involved and drive matters involving escalations, exception management, and claims in Ocean Freight for South India sub-cluster

  • Lead, coach and develop Ocean Freight teams across South India sub-cluster, creating succession plans, driving engagement and building future leadership capability

3.Procurement and Pricing

  • Lead Ocean Freight sourcing, pricing strategy and commercial response for strategic global, regional and country RFQs originating from South India sub-cluster
  • Utilize market intelligence, digital procurement tools and data analytics to optimize carrier allocation, pricing strategy, trade lane performance and profitability
  • Serve as the primary market intelligence owner for South India sub-cluster, providing insights on carrier strategies, capacity trends, rate movements, market disruptions and competitive developments
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, co-loaders and other ocean freight service providers
  • Drive and manage carrier inventory & space allocation and overall capacity planning for South India sub-cluster to balance cost and service delivery
  • Develop and strengthen strategic trade lanes from South India sub-cluster, with particular focus on North Europe, North America, Oceania, Middle East and Southeast Asia markets

4.Commercial and Business Development

  • Participate in customer business reviews, strategic account discussions and key customer presentations to strengthen retention and growth
  • Work closely with South India sub-cluster Commercial teams to drive revenue growth and customer acquisition
  • Support account growth, pipeline development, and conversion initiatives for South India sub-cluster
  • Be part of the solution by aligning with Sales & Cluster Head of Ocean Freight (ISC) to drive desired commercial outcomes
