Job Description

Liquid Personnel is recruiting an Occupational Therapist for its client’s Specialist Community Service Team in Peterborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Locum Occupational Therapist to deliver a specialist community-based Occupational Therapy service to disabled people of all ages with complex needs.

What will your responsibilities be?

You will work as an autonomous practitioner, managing a defined caseload and delivering high-quality, needs-led Occupational Therapy interventions across the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialist OT services to individuals with complex health, social, psychological/psychosocial and housing needs
  • Independently managing a defined caseload, applying advanced problem-solving, clinical reasoning and professional judgement
  • Progressing interventions to closure with appropriate reviews and outcome evaluation
  • Applying relevant legislation and guidance, including the Care Act, housing legislation, moving & handling legislation, and RCOT professional standards
  • Assessing the interaction between health, housing and social factors
  • Interpreting technical plans and advising on housing construction/design, adaptations and Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) recommendations
  • Providing advice and support to people, families and carers, including teaching and demonstrating techniques and equipment to maximise independence
  • Arranging provision of standard and specialist disability equipment, seeking authorisation for non-standard items and ensuring cost-effective, needs-led decisions
  • Completing holistic assessments that reflect individuals’ views, wishes and cultural needs
  • Working effectively with partner agencies where required
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records in line with legal and organisational requirements
  • Providing moving & handling best-practice guidance, including complex risk assessments and recommendations for other agencies where appropriate

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have,

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist
  • Significant experience in community-based or specialist OT roles
  • Strong knowledge of housing, adaptations, DFGs, equipment provision and moving & handling
  • Confident working autonomously with complex cases
