Job Description

Full-Time Occupational Therapist - Pain Program - CBI Health Surrey Fleetwood, BC

Are you an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping people regain function, build confidence, and return to the activities that matter most to them?

CBI Health’s Fleetwood Clinic in Surrey, is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Pain Program. This is an opportunity to work with clients experiencing persistent or complex pain and help them develop practical strategies to improve their function, independence, and quality of life.

You’ll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of experts and take a whole-person approach to rehabilitation — looking beyond pain itself to understand how it impacts a person’s daily life, work, relationships, routines, and ability to participate in meaningful activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Complete comprehensive OT assessments to understand how pain impacts daily activities, work, and overall function
  • Develop individualized, client-centred treatment plans based on each client’s goals and functional needs
  • Help clients develop strategies for pacing, energy conservation, activity modification, symptom management, and building activity tolerance
  • Support clients in gradually increasing participation in meaningful daily, recreational, community, and work-related activities
  • Provide education and coaching around pain, activity, routines, and function
  • Identify barriers to participation and develop strategies to improve independence and quality of life
  • Support return-to-work planning, functional goal setting, and work-related rehabilitation where appropriate
  • Collaborate with Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, mental health professionals, physicians, and other members of the care team
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans based on functional outcomes
  • Complete clinical documentation and communicate effectively with referral sources and other healthcare professionals

A Day in the Life of an OT in Our Pain Program

  • Assess: Meet with clients to understand how persistent pain is affecting their daily life, work, routines, and meaningful activities
  • Set goals: Work with clients to identify what they want to get back to doing and establish realistic, meaningful functional goals
  • Build strategies: Help clients develop practical strategies around pacing, energy management, activity modification, and gradually increasing activity tolerance
  • Support return to work: Assess work demands, identify barriers, explore accommodations, and develop strategies to support a safe and sustainable return to work
  • Collaborate: Work closely with Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, mental health professionals, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Problem-solve: Help clients navigate setbacks and develop strategies to build confidence and manage challenges throughout their rehabilitation journey
  • Track progress: Monitor functional improvements, adjust treatment plans, and celebrate meaningful milestones with clients
  • Make an impact: Help clients move toward greater independence and participation in the activities, roles, and relationships that matter most to them

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
  • Experience with chronic pain, complex rehabilitation, mental health, return-to-work, or functional rehabilitation is an asset
  • Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and treatment planning skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative and client-centred approach
  • A genuine interest in helping people achieve meaningful functional outcomes

Why Join CBI Health?
