Job Description

NeuLife Rehabilitation of Louisiana provides post-acute rehabilitation and residential services for individuals recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), and other neurological conditions. Our interdisciplinary team is dedicated to helping clients maximize independence, improve functional abilities, and enhance their overall quality of life.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our rehabilitation team.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs that help clients develop, restore, or maintain skills needed for daily living, vocational activities, and independent functioning. The OT works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, therapists, clients, families, and caregivers to achieve meaningful rehabilitation outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to determine functional abilities, limitations, needs, and goals.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide occupational therapy services designed to improve daily living, cognitive, vocational, and functional skills.
  • Monitor client progress, modify treatment plans as appropriate, and communicate updates to the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and environmental modifications to promote independence and safety.
  • Educate clients, families, caregivers, and support systems regarding treatment plans, therapeutic techniques, and home strategies.
  • Assess home and community environments and recommend modifications when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with medical and rehabilitation staff.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state licensure requirements, and all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current Louisiana Occupational Therapist license in good standing.

Experience

  • Occupational therapy experience preferred.
  • Experience in neuro-rehabilitation, brain injury, spinal cord injury, or post-acute rehabilitation preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, modalities, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and clinical documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to compassionate, client-centered care.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and assist clients throughout the workday.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds as necessary.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate varying conditions typical of a healthcare setting.
