Evaluates and treats patients using manual techniques, purposeful activities and physical agent modalities. Provides clinical supervision to assistants, aides and students. Participates in departmental activities to assure smooth operations and facilitate program enhancement.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Administers therapy evaluations and develops treatment plan for patients with hand/upper extremity injuries or dysfunction, including infants and children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics and frail elderly, inpatient and outpatient.
2. Provides individual treatment to remediate, restore and/or compensate for sensorimotor,
3. neuromuscular, or musculoskeletal dysfunction.
4. Fabricates static and dynamic splints, utilizes physical agent modalities as per licensure and training.
5. Facilitates return to activities of daily living through provision of adaptive devices, education in compensatory techniques and use of goal directed activities.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelors or Basic Master's degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy from accredited OT or PT school or equivalent.
2. Current license to practice Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3. AOTCB/NBCOT certification, or eligible and registered for next examination COT.
4. Successful completion of National Physical Therapy Board Examination, or eligible for examination and scheduled for next sitting.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
