Bronson Lifestyle Improvement & Rehabilitation Center (BLIRC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our outpatient rehabilitation team in Kalamazoo. This role offers the opportunity to provide individualized, one-on-one care to a diverse patient population while working alongside a collaborative team of rehabilitation professionals. What You'll Do

As an Occupational Therapist, you will:

• Evaluate patients' functional abilities and identify rehabilitation needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans designed to maximize independence and function
• Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions in an outpatient setting
• Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Assist patients in developing the skills necessary to safely participate in daily activities
• Design or fabricate splints and recommend adaptive equipment as appropriate
• Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and care planning
• Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current Occupational Therapist license in good standing with the State of Michigan
• BLS certification within three months of hire
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer and mobile device proficiency

Preferred

• Previous Occupational Therapy experience
• Lymphedema experience or certification
• Outpatient rehabilitation experience

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

• Interpret and implement physician referrals
• Evaluate patient functional status through standardized assessments and testing
• Establish functional baselines and measurable treatment goals
• Develop individualized treatment plans and patient education programs
• Provide direct patient care focused on improving functional independence
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and treatment planning
• Serve as a clinical resource within areas of expertise
• Provide educational presentations and in-services as appropriate
• Support departmental initiatives and process improvement efforts
• Cross-train within Rehabilitation Services as needed

Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities

• Complete accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, interventions, and patient progress
• Maintain compliance with electronic medical record documentation requirements
• Communicate barriers to timely documentation with leadership
• Maintain complete and accurate patient records
• Participate in committees, task forces, and improvement initiatives
• Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills
• Assist with supervision of COTAs, students, volunteers, and support personnel as appropriate

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and direct patient interaction. Candidates must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds and assist with patient care activities as needed.
