About this opportunity
If you’re an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who’s eager to make a difference in the field of rehabilitation and driver assessment, CBI Health has an exceptional opportunity for you to work toward your professional goals with the support of one of the largest healthcare networks in Canada. As an Occupational Therapist within our Driving Rehab program, you will assess clients’ physical, cognitive and visual abilities related to driving and providing recommendations to assist clients with their return to pre-accident, pre-injury levels of driving. Additionally, you will be part of a team working within the Complex Auto space, offering programs and services ranging from in-home assessments and hospital discharge assessments to behavioural activation, equipment coordination and education, and occupational therapy treatment.
Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
Work with your clients throughout their entire treatment plan, from assessment to discharge, and be involved in the final positive outcome
Conduct hospital discharges
Perform attendant care assessments, with completion of Form 1’s
Provide assessment and treatment to a wide variety of clients with varying needs, including those with chronic and/or mental health conditions
Coordinate the delivery/installation and set-up of assistive devices and/or home modifications, and personal support worker services, as well as the transportation/rehabilitation needs of clients with acute injuries post discharge
Coordinate the return-to-work process with all stakeholders in a timely way, ensuring a smooth transition into the workplace
Work closely with the team and other resources to develop new programs to meet identified client needs
Perform regular, timely charting, reporting and communication, and record workload measurement data
Record workload measurement data
Network with internal and external stakeholders to promote new and existing programs
Evaluate clients’ cognitive, visual and physical fitness to drive
Evaluate the impact of anxiety on driving and passenger travel
Evaluate vehicle adaptation needs
Track post-attribution of recommended adaptations and driving with these adaptations
Coordinate the delivery/installation vehicle adaptations
What you need to be successful
A Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Experience in the field of driving and/or a Graduate Certificate in Driving Rehabilitation is an asset but not required
Strong clinical skills in one or more of the following: orthopaedic injuries, cognitive impairment, anxiety (driver and passenger), or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)·
Experience in the private sector, particularly with auto sector legislation
Strong critical thinking, decision-making and analysis skills
Dedication to providing the highest quality of client care in a fast-paced, changing environment
Excellent time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently
Enthusiasm for working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel·
Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with clients
A valid driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to facilitate our clients’ needs by exceeding their goals
