Do you want to be part of a team that empowers people to maximise their independence, choice and control?

The Occupational Therapy Tailored Individual Care Team is a specialist service within Leicestershire County Council's wider Occupational Therapy Service. We are a small, supportive team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy focused Community Support Workers who are passionate about helping people maximise their independence, maintain choice and control, and achieve meaningful outcomes in their daily lives.

Using a strengths-based and person-centred approach, we support people to build on what matters most to them. Working closely with individuals, families, care providers and partner organisations, we identify practical solutions that enhance independence, improve wellbeing and enable people to live safely and confidently, helping to reduce or prevent the need for long-term formal care.

What We Do

  • Promote independence by enabling people to build on their strengths and abilities.
  • Support individuals to develop confidence and skills in essential daily living activities.
  • Work collaboratively with family members, carers and support networks to identify sustainable solutions.
  • Promote dignity, choice and control in everyday life.
  • Provide specialist moving and handling assessment, advice and interventions.
  • Deliver Occupational Therapy interventions that improve quality of life and reduce barriers to participation.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist with excellent assessment and moving and handling skills to join our specialist team.

You will manage and prioritise a varied caseload, including complex and high-risk situations, undertaking comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and delivering interventions that promote independence, safety and wellbeing.

Working Pattern

This is a flexible role that responds to the needs of the people we support. Whilst our standard working day is 8:30am to 5:00pm, team members regularly adjust their working hours to accommodate joint visits with care providers and other professionals.

Dependent on skills, abilities and relevant experience, our salary structure is as follows:

  • G9 Occupational Therapist: £32,070 to £34,359
  • G10 Occupational Therapist: £35,451 to £39,165
  • G11 Occupational Therapist: £39,939 to £42,699 plus £3,200 market premia

About You

To apply for this role, you must demonstrate:

  1. A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and current HCPC registration
  2. Experience of working within a social care or community Occupational Therapy setting, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and practice
  3. Advanced knowledge of Occupational Therapy interventions, including moving and handling, equipment provision, minor and major adaptations
  4. Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, risk management and decision-making, including safeguarding and mental capacity and the ability to respond effectively in urgent situations, delivering timely and proportionate interventions
  5. Strong clinical reasoning and professional judgement, with the confidence to work autonomously and prioritise a varied and fast-paced workload
  6. Excellent communication, negotiation and partnership working skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and work across multi-disciplinary teams
  7. Experience of supporting and developing others, providing guidance, sharing expertise and contributing to high-quality team practice
