About the role
This position is for weekend work which assists the OT department in providing a seven-day acute service. Due to weekend working, this role requires the staff member to work autonomously.
The weekend Occupational Therapist has a responsibility for the provision of integrated, patient centered and evidence based Occupational Therapy services to patients across the St. Vincent’s Hospital Campus
The clinical specialty areas that this position will provide Occupational Therapy services over the weekend period to include: General Medicine/Surgery, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Orthopedics, Stroke, Neurology and Neurosurgery Inpatient Acute wards.
This position operates under supervision of a Senior Occupational Therapist. The level of direct clinical supervision will vary according to the incumbent’s clinical experience and the task.
The Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist is encouraged to participate in workplace education, quality improvement activities and relevant research
This position may also assist in development of policies and procedures and supervision of Occupational Therapy students on placement
About you
You’re a qualified and AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist.
Provide integrated, patient centred and evidence based Occupational Therapy Service to inpatients across St Vincent’s Hospital campus, including picking up new referrals, review of patients and continuation of therapy in relevant clinical area. This position is for weekend work to help facilitate a seven-day acute service.
Demonstrate effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including working within a multi-disciplinary team to effectively manage clinical care autonomously
Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills to effectively prioritise both clinical and non-clinical tasks within finite resources to ensure delivery of optimum standards.
Participate in regular clinical supervision to ensure you are working in line with the requirements of the role
Evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services including the collection of appropriate activity data and outcome information.
