Occupational Therapist

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

SUPERVISES: None

FLSA Status: Exempt

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with Experience

WORK CALENDAR: 185 Days

STANDARD HOURS: 8 Hours/Day, 40 Hours/Week

CORP STATUS: Classified

PERF: CPCSC is a Non-PERF District

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains respect at all times for confidential information.

  • Maintains records as required by district policy or state guidelines; maintains professional ethics.

  • Collaborates with classroom teacher to align essential functions with those of classroom teacher.

  • Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for fine motor skills and sensory integration.

  • Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students in the area of fine motor and sensory issues.

  • Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified fine motor and sensory issues.

  • Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of fine motor and sensory issues.

  • Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.

  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student’s daily activities.

  • Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.

  • Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.

  • Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.

  • Follows a regular set schedule and arrives for each session or class on time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate State of indiana certification in occupational therapy

  • Proper First Aid training; CPR Certification if students served have potential health issues
